Since last many days, southern districts of Tamil Nadu have been witnessing light to moderate rains. Whereas, throughout the month of October, good rains kept occurring over the state as well as the capital city. In fact, there have been just a few days when Chennai has not recorded any good spells.

Both the observatories of Chennai, Numgambakkam, and Minambakkam have failed to record any rain in past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, other parts of Tamil Nadu did record some rains during the same time period. Within a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Nagapattinam recorded rainfall to the tune of 47 mm, followed by Madurai at 28 mm, Kodaikanal 14.4 mm, Salem 9 mm and Tiruchirapalli 1 mm.

These rains can be attributed to an upper air trough which is further likely to form over west central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, warm and humid weather conditions along with cloudy sky is likely to persist over the city of Chennai and adjoining areas during the next two to three days.

Besides this, southern districts of Tamil Nadu will continue to settle with light to moderate rains during the similar time frame.

However, due to the availability of moisture, scattered light rain and thundershowers in a few pockets of the city cannot be ruled out.
