Warm days ahead for Delhi NCR, temperature to rise further

February 16, 2017 4:13 PM |

Delhi warm wintersThere has been swift transition from comfortable weather in Delhi to warm weather this week. Clear and sunny days have led to increase in mercury, making day slightly warmer.

In fact, both the maximum and minimum temperatures have been settling well above normal by 2-3 degrees. On Wednesday, Safdarjung Observatory recorded maximum of 27.4°C, three degrees above normal. Meanwhile, minimum temperature settled at 13°C, two degrees above normal.

Palam Observatory too recorded day maximum at 27°C which was also three degrees above normal average, while minimum temperature was at 13°C, again two degrees above normal.

This rising trend in the temperatures is likely to continue for some more days. All thanks to back to back Western Disturbances approaching Jammu and Kashmir.

These systems have replaced northwesterly winds with the warm and humid southeasterly winds. This will continue to increase both the maximum and minimum temperatures in the coming 3-4 days.

Weathermen predict that sky could become partly cloudy but weather is likely to remain dry.

According to Skymet Weather, temperatures are expected to dip again by 3-4 degrees after February 20. This will be after the passage of these Western Disturbances. Cold northwesterly winds from snow-clad Himalayas will once again blow over the northwestern plains including Delhi-NCR.
