In the last one month, Mumbai has been witnessing dry and warm weather conditions. With no active weather system affecting the city of dreams, more dry weather is likely to persist.
At present, moist southwesterly winds are blowing across the coast of Maharashtra. These winds are coming from Arabian Sea. In next few days as well, the city will continue to witness warm and humid weather. There is hardly any chance of rain over the city for the foreseeable future.
With such weather condition, day temperatures are expected to rise. Thus the afternoons over the city will get extremely uncomfortable.
Currently, maximum temperature in Mumbai was recorded at 31.2°C, which is above normal. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 15.8 °C which is a notch below normal. During the next 24 hours, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise; 34°C and 18°C respectively.
Being a coastal city, Mumbai is not use to witness low night temperatures. However Mumbai did record its lowest minimum temperature of 14°C on February 7 which was three degrees below the normal. The average temperature for Mumbai during the month of February is 17.8°C. This drop in minimum temperature was due to the change in wind pattern from warm and moist southerly winds to dry and cold northerly winds.
