Base Station at Safdarjung recorded day temperature of 37°C for the second consecutive day. Warm and humid conditions prevailed during the daytime. Mercury level is about 3°C more than the normal. Similar weather conditions are likely for the next one week or so. Weekend, from the 04th to the 06th of Oct will witness rising mercury levels in excess of 35°-36°C, and possibly breaching 37°C mark, yet again.
In the wake of withdrawal of monsoon, such conditions are very evident and remain prevalent, past mid October. As per the pentad normal, the start of the month observes day temperature of 34°-35°C and minimum temperature is in the range of 23°-24°C. By the end of the month, the maximum drops to about 30°-31°C and the early morning temperature slides to about 17°-18°C. The last week of October is synonymous with pleasant feel of wintry flavor.
There is no significant weather system around the capital city and extended neighbourhood. A feeble and dry circulation is marked in the lower levels over border areas of Punjab and North Rajasthan. An inclined trough from this feature extends up to Delhi, across Haryana region. The system does not seem to have potential for any significant activity and at best, there could be some puffs of clouds with outside chance of light spray in some areas, tomorrow evening. The activity, if at all, will be very brief and patchy.
The highlights of weather conditions will include above average maximum temperature. Light breeze and pleasant dip of mercury in the late evening and night. Typical hazy morning, becoming bright and sunny, quite early to start the day. The festivities of ‘Navratri’ will have these conditions all through the nine days, culminating on Dussehra, around next weekend. A gradual change can be expected, thereafter, leading to typical autumn cordial conditions over North India, including Delhi.
