The Gateway to South India, Chennai recorded some really good spells of rain during the initial days of the past week; thereafter dry weather took over the city and adjacent areas.
The last 24 hours were also of not much difference and warm and humid weather was observed over the Tamil Nadu capital. Such weather conditions can be attributed to the seasonal pressure as well as wind pattern.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather are of the view that warm and moist winds will continue to blow over the region. With this, the sky conditions will remain partly cloudy to cloudy for the next 24 to 48 hours. During the same time, the maximum temperatures will settle around 30°C over the region. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures will range between 25°C to 26°C.

Further, short spells of rain will spread over some parts of the city during late evening and night hours tomorrow. Presently, we cannot say that Northeast Monsoon is active over the city. Rains will happen in wake of the winds that are expected to surge the humidity levels over the region.
During the first few days of the month, the state capital surpassed its monthly mean rainfall of 374.4 mm.
