As of now, there is a feeble upper air trough which is extending from Odisha up to Tamil Nadu Coast. In wake of this weather system, disturbance in air mass will persist, leading to cloudy sky over the Tamil Nadu capital.

On the other hand, interior parts of Tamil Nadu have been witnessing light rains at scattered places during the same time frame.

Skymet Weather predicts warm and humid weather to persist for another 24 hours. Thereafter, weathermen expect light rain over some parts of the city. Day maximums will be around 33°C whereas night temperatures will settle around 24°C-25°C.

Right now, Northeast Monsoon is not active over the state and humid winds from Bay of Bengal continue to induce moisture over the coastal regions, leading to some rain activity.

During the first few days of the month, the city of Chennai surpassed its monthly mean rainfall of 374.4 mm. This was due to a low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal, which had later strengthened into a depression.
