Warm and dry days ahead for South India

February 1, 2017 1:52 PM |

Rain in Kerala

Since the withdrawal of Northeast Monsoon from the entire country particularly from the Southern Peninsular India, parts of South India have remained parched. However, a few rainy spells did show up over a few South Indian states on January 26 thereby providing relief from the elongated dry spell.

Since then, on and off showers have kept on pouring over most parts of South India. On one hand, states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala were drenched with good rains along with some rainy spells over parts of Karnataka, on the other hand, the other states of Southern Peninsular India like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remained completely dry without even traces of rains.

Due to these short-lived rains, temperatures across most of the South Indian states, particularly in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, also witnessed marginal drop.

Though, as of now, in the absence of any such significant weather system, weather across entire South India is expected to remain dry. Moreover, clear sky with bright sunny days is predicted to show up across the Southern Peninsula.

The bright sunny days are also expected to contribute to rising temperatures across the South Indian states. Days and nights are expected to remain warmer. Hence, people in South India are expected to brace warm and dry days.
