Despite the arrival of Monsoon, Delhi and its adjoining areas have not been able to witness any significant rain or thundershower activities. And Delhiites have been desperately waiting to see good Monsoon showers.
For the past few days, the weather in Delhi was almost dry with partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions. Moreover, in the absence of any significant rains, the temperatures have remained above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius. And the day temperature does not look like settling below the 40-degree Celsius mark.
According to Skymet Weather, no significant rainfall activity is likely during the next two to three days in Delhi and NCR area. This is because the seasonal Trough is currently located North of Delhi. This Trough is slowly shifting towards the foothills of the Himalayas. Moreover, the dry westerly winds will continue to blow over the entire region for the next two to three days, thus setting in dry and warm weather.
It will be around July 15, when the seasonal Trough (by then it will come closer to the foothills of Himalayas) would start travelling in southwards and bring a significant change in the weather of Delhi-NCR. We expect, isolated rains to commence over Delhi and NCR area around July 16. Thereafter, the intensity of rain will increase and Delhiites would be able to witness typical Monsoon- like rains. During this period, moderate showers may lash the entire region. These showers are expected to continue until July 18 or 19.
However, until then, the residents of Delhi-NCR have to battle warm and humid weather conditions. High humidity will increase the discomfort level.
