Wait for typical Monsoon rain in Delhi and NCR gets longer, only patchy rains likely for next few days

Delhi rains

Delhi and its adjoining areas such as Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad have been observing patchy rains since the last three days. And the observatory at Palam recorded 22 mm of rain yesterday.

On a regular basis, moderate showers have been making an appearance over Palam and adjoining areas. The regions of Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Noida too have experienced scattered showers in the last few days. However, most areas of Delhi have remained deprived of these rains and are reeling under sultry weather conditions only.

These patchy rains are a result of the axis of the Monsoon Trough, which is running South of Delhi. And its western end is oscillating over Rajasthan between Bikaner and Phalodi. This end is extending up to Digha in West Bengal.

In the wake of this system, the easterly winds would gain more strength and weather activities might increase over Delhi and NCR area during the next two days. Particularly, on August 6 and 7, we expect some moderate showers to knock the doors of the National Capital Territory, however, these will not be widespread and only patchy, and thus Delhiites need to wait for some more time to experience typical Monsoon rains.

After these two rainy days, the weather will once again go dry, but isolated pockets may continue to witness local development of clouds due to the humid winds from the Arabian Sea. Moreover, patchy rains would drop down the temperatures and ease out the sultry weather to some extent.
