Monsoon rains have remained very constructive for the parts of Coastal Odisha while parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh have not been fortunate enough to witness many good showers. August brought some good showers for Odisha coast but for Coastal Andhra Pradesh, the month has seen a lot of dry days.

Somewhat similar weather pattern followed both the coastal regions in the month of September as well. Light to moderate rains occurred in parts of coastal Odisha in the last 24 hours as well. Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Bhubaneshwar recorded 67 mm of rains, Paradip 59 mm, Cuttack 56 mm, and Gopalpur and Puri both recorded 2 mm of rains each. On the contrary, the parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh mainly remained dry during the similar time frame.

As per Skymet Weather, at present, there are two weather systems prevailing over the region. One, a trough which is extending from northeast Bihar to coastal Odisha and another from Andhra Pradesh coast to Tamil Nadu.

In the wake of these two weather systems, rains are likely to increase along the coastal regions of both the states. The interior regions of both these states may also witness few light spells of rains. These rains may continue for the next 72 hours.

However, as the trough will move in a westerly direction, rains will further increase over the interior regions of these two states while the rainfall activity in the coastal districts may reduce.
