During the last 24 hours, the Southwest Monsoon was active in pockets of Central parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. While other parts of Andhra Pradesh received normal to subdued rainfall activity.
In the last 24 hours, Machilipatnam recorded 47.8 mm of rains, Ongole 30.2 mm, and Nellore 2.7 mm of rains.
At present, an upper air Cyclonic Circulation is persisting at upper-tropospheric levels over the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North-west Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh coast. In the presence of this weather system, light to moderate rains will continue over Andhra Pradesh. Places like Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Kalingapatnam, Kakinada, Bapatla, Nalgonda, East Godavari, West Godavari, Tuni, Vijayawada, Nellore, etc. is likely to witness rain activities during next two to three days.
As per the experts, the southern parts of Rayalaseema will not be affected by these rains and dry weather is likely to prevail.
However, in isolated places, heavy rains cannot be ruled out. The districts of Vijayawada and West Godavari might experience heavy rains at isolated places. Day temperature is likely to drop marginally with humid weather conditions to persist.
Also, all these rains will be helpful for crops like Coconut, Cotton, Groundnut, Paddy, etc.
