Southwest Monsoon remained extremely vigorous over Goa and has been splashing moderate to heavy rains since its arrival. Three digit rains is a normal affair over the region as it has recorded these figures many times this season.
At present also Southwest Monsoon is vigorous over Konkan and Goa region. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Old Goa recorded whopping three digit rain of 118 mm, Sanquelim 112.8 mm, Ponda 117.8 mm, Valpoi 116.4 mm, Panaji 106 mm.

While other regions also recorded heavy showers, Mapusa recorded 95 mm, Pernem, 92.8 mm, Dabolim 78.2 mm and Mormugao 76.8 mm. These heavy rains can be attributed to the off shore trough which is extending from South Gujarat to Kerala.

As per Skymet Weather, we expect heavy to very heavy rains to continue splashing Goa and adjoining areas for the next two days. Thereafter the intensity of rain is likely to reduce but moderate spells of rain will continue for the next few days. Weather is pleasant across the state due to the hefty rains, the sky will remain cloudy to overcast.
Normally 899.8 mm rain occurs over Goa in the month of July and it has received 456.4mm till date and is likely to surpass the mean by the end of the month due to heavy rains.
