Due to recent good rains, Konkan and Goa is currently observing a surplus of 11 percent, Madhya Maharashtra 9 percent, Vidarbha and Marathwada are still rain deficient by 22 and 34 percent, respectively.
Now, on and off rains are expected to continue over the Vidarbha region, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra for the next 24 hours. Good rains are likely to be seen over Konkan and Goa wherein Mumbai may see some heavy spells of rain as well.
Thereafter, the intensity of rains will start to reduce, however, southern parts of Konkan region including Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri may see light to moderate showers. After 24 hours, rains will further reduce over interior parts of Maharashtra.
Dry weather conditions will make a comeback after July 11 over Vidarbha, Marathwada, and many parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Rains will be light over Mumbai and adjoining North Konkan districts. However, light to moderate showers will be seen over southern parts of Konkan and Goa.
Thus, we do not expect revival of rains anytime soon for at least the next four to five days. Dry weather will persist until July 16, and will be attributed to the northward shift of Monsoon trough which will cause break Monsoon like conditions over the state of Maharashtra.
