The entire Maharashtra has been reeling under dry and very warm weather for quite some time now. In fact, the capital city, i.e. Mumbai has also been witnessing very warm and humid conditions. With this, the day as well as night temperatures have settled above normal over most parts of the state.

Considering the weather sub-divisional wise, dry and very warm weather has been looming over Vidarbha and Marathwada. Similar weather conditions have been dominant over the remaining regions as well, i.e. Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan. So, we could say the residents have been experiencing uneasy and discomfort weather.

As of yesterday, Akola recorded its maximum at 38.6°C, Buldhana 35.2°C, Gondia 37.2°C and Mumbai 34.8°C; and today Pune registered minimum of 18.4°C, Nashik 13.7°C, Mumbai 22.6°C and Ratnagiri 22.5°C.

However, weathermen are of the view that slight relief is foreseen around March 8 and 9, when there are probabilities of light rain and thundershowers over Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. At this time, the sky would remain partly cloudy, leading to drop in maximum temperatures that have been settling well above the normal levels.

These upcoming spell of rains could be attributed to the formation of a confluence zone, with the merging of southeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal and southwesterly winds from Arabian Sea.

On the other hand, parched weather is expected to persist over Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Herein, days will remain very warm and dry with comfortable nights and clear to partly cloudy sky conditions.
