Recently, Rajasthan has been receiving heavy to very heavy rains leading to flooding at many parts of the state. Places like Jaipur, Sikar, Alwar, Sawai Madhopur are even facing flood-like situation and waterlogging at many places. Now, East Rajasthan has become surplus by 11% and rain deficiency of West Rajasthan has also come down to 36%.
During the last 24 hours, fairly widespread rain and thundershowers occurred over the state. While the capital city of Jaipur recorded 39 mm of rain, Ajmer received 55 mm. The western district of Jodhpur which was running highly rain deficient managed to record 39 mm, Jaisalmer also recorded 27 mm of rains, Barmer 2 mm, Udaipur 35 mm, while Kota recorded a very heavy rain of 152 mm.
Now, we expect these rain activities to continue over many parts of Rajasthan. We expect heavy to very heavy rains over many parts of Rajasthan in the next two days. Today, we expect the rain intensity to shift over South and Southwest Rajasthan. The intensity might even more than 100 mm at a few places. A few places like that of Barmer, Jalore, Sirohi, Pali, Rajasmand, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Jaisalmer, Pratapgarh, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Bundi and Tonk might witness very heavy rains today.
These rains will certainly bring down the rain deficiency over West Rajasthan which wasn't witnessing any rains for last many days.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation persisting over East Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh. The axis of Monsoon Trough is also passing through Western parts of Rajasthan.
Today and tomorrow, the rain activities will be more over South and Southwest Rajasthan. Weather will start clearing up from July 30 onward and rains will decrease from the state.
However, another spell of rain is expected to approach Northern and Eastern parts around August 1 and 2.
