Many areas in Gujarat have received heavy to very heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours. Significant rains were received in Naliya which recorded 77 mm of rains,Kandla47 mm, Bhavnagar 48 mm, Mahuva 55 mm, Deesa 43 mm, andDwarkarecorded 29 mm rains. These rains are prevailing due to the formation of a Low Pressure Area over Southwest parts of Gujarat coast and Northeast Arabian Sea.
Presently, theLow Pressure Area remains stationary over the areaand may intensify marginally. Its upper air system is titling southwestwards with height. Also, a Trough is extending from Southwest Gujarat to central Uttar Pradesh across central parts of Gujarat.
Thus, rainfall activity with moderate to heavy intensity is likely to continue over the Eastern and Southwest parts of state. During the next 24 hours we expect rainfall over some parts of cities such as Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Patan, Rajkot, Mehsana, Himmatnagar and Surendranagar. Rest parts of Gujarat will continue with light to moderate rains.
These rains are likely to continue in many parts of Gujarat for the next two days. Thereafter the rainfall activity will reduce marginally over Kutch and adjoining coast.
Rains will reduce significantly over the state around October 2 and a gradual improvement in weather is expected.
