Active Monsoon conditions are still prevailing in many parts of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, Monsoon rains haven’t taken a single break since the last two to three days.
During the last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rains lashed the northern districts and adjoining central districts of the state.
Gwalior observed very heavy rain of 102 mm, followed by Nowgaon 54 mm,Sagarand Tikamgarh 26 mm each, Guna 24 mm, Shajapur 19 mm and Betul 12 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday.
During the same time frame, places like Satna, Khajuraho, Damoh, Jabalpur, Pachmarhi, Ujjain and Khargone observed light rainfall activities.
According to our meteorologists, rains will continue over many parts of the state during the remaining days of September.
The intensity of rain is likely to increase around September 27, wherein places likeUjjain, Ratlam, Satna, Damoh, Indore etc may receive heavy showers. These rains will reduce by September 28, however, the weather, in any case, will not go completely dry and patchy rains may continue thereafter as well.
Talking about the rainfall data, West Madhya Pradesh is standing rain excess by 57%, while East Madhya Pradesh is in normal rain category with a surplus of 14%.
This season, the excess amounts of rainfall have resulted in widespread flooding in many parts of Madhya Pradesh. The important crops of the state too have suffered due to flooding rains. And this is not the end! Rains are expected to continue in the month of October as well andwe do not expect the withdrawal of Monsoon before the first week of October.
