Northwestern Plains of India i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan received good rains during the last 24 hours, as heavy to very heavy rains occurred over Punjab, North Haryana and East Rajasthan. In fact, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi also witnessed active Monsoon conditions.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Ludhiana recorded 76 mm of rain, followed by Shahjahanpur 68 mm, Patiala 62 mm, Amritsar 55 mm, Bareilly 41 mm, Moradabad 37 mm, Hisar 11 mm and Pilani 10 mm.
The Western Disturbance over Pakistan and adjoining area is now seen over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Its associated upper air cyclonic circulation is extending up to 5.8 km.
A trough is also extending from this this system to the well-marked low-pressure are over East Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the combined effect of these two systems, rainfall activity will be heavy to very heavy over many parts of Punjab, North Haryana and adjoining Northwest Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Extremely heavy rains are also possible in pockets of these states.
Moderate rains will occur in many parts of East Rajasthan, Delhi, South Haryana and Southwest Uttar Pradesh.
Rainfall activity will recue over Southwest Rajasthan gradually after 12 hours. In West Rajasthan only, light rains are possible over few parts and extreme western parts will remain mostly cloudy with dry weather.
