It's the start of the week and holiday season is set to begin but the thick cover of fog is disrupting all plans.
With several flights delayed and cancelled, fog in North India has brought life to a standstill. As the cold wave intensifies, fog has tightened its grip over both the regions with visibility at most of the places have is ranging between nil to 200 meters only.
Fog in North India
Unlike Sunday, Delhi today witnessed very dense fog, with visibility dropping to nil at Palam airport. While, Dwarka, Model Town, Laxmi Nagar and adjoining areas of Faridabad and Noida Expressway reported very dense fog.
Visibility in Agra reduced to nil. Chandigarh and Lucknow too reported poor visibility conditions at 50 meters and Jaipur at 500 meters. Fog conditions improved for Jammu where visibility was 400 meters today as compared to 200 meters yesterday. Amritsar too witnessed fairly good visibility conditions at 1000 meters.
Fog in East India
Dense to very dense fog continues to disrupt normal life in East India, as Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Gwalior reported nil visibility on Monday morning. Visibility reduced to 100 meters in Patna and Gaya, and 500 meters in Guwahati.
Flight and train delays in India
Around 130 trains are running behind the schedule by several hours, especially trains to and from Patna Junction, Delhi, Lucknow and Varanasi have been running late.
The schedule of flights across the country has also been disrupted across the country. In the wake of poor visibility conditions, 2 flights from Delhi were cancelled, 3 flights coming to Delhi were delayed, while 8 flights departing from Delhi were also delayed.
