In the last 24 hours, temperatures in East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have dropped significantly by 2-3°C and most of the places in Central India are also under the mark of 2-3°C. This fall in temperature is due to the dry and cold north-northwesterly winds that are currently blowing in the region and are likely to prevail for another couple of days.
Skymet Weather also expects that cold wave conditions will persist in many parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and soon cover some parts of West Bengal. East India will continue to witness a drop in temperatures and join the bandwagon of cold wave condition of Central India. West Bengal will be affected by cold winds so temperatures will drop there as well.
At present many parts of northwest plains and parts of Maharashtra and Saurashtra & Kutch are under cold wave conditions, so in next 24 hours it will be safe to say that almost entire North India will witness winter chill.
But this drop in temperature will be short lived i.e. this drop in temperatures will last for next 2-3 days. Thereafter, temperatures over northwest plains will start increasing.
During this time of the year, temperatures usually drop drastically and people living in the open should find night shelters or use blankets to keep them warm & safe.
