Vengurla, Mumbai, Harnai, Goa, Honavar to witness good Monsoon showers

West Coast has been witnessing very good Monsoon showers due to which the weather has become pleasant over all the places along the West Coast. As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over South Coastal Gujarat and adjoining North Madhya Maharashtra. And trough is extending from South Gujarat to North Kerala.

Due to these combined weather systems moderate to heavy rains at many places and extremely heavy at few places has already occurred along the West Coast. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on sunday, Maidekeri recorded extremely heavy rain of 85 mm, Santacruz and Colaba Observatory in Mumbai witnessed heavy rain of 60 mm, Honavar 60.6 mm, Karwar 57.8 mm, Thane and Harnai recorded 52 mm, Cannur 50 mm, Vengurla and Cochin 44 mm of rain.

In the same span of time, moderate intensity rain of 38 mm was recorded in Ratnagiri, Alappuzha 30 mm, Kozhikode 17 mm and Thiruvananthapuram 16 mm of rain. The vacation capital of India Goa also witnessed 25 mm of moderate intensity Monsoon showers. It is anticipated that good rain will continue over most parts of Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Kerala.

But the intensity will be heavy to very heavy over North Konkan and adjoining Gujarat coast. Gradually the weather system over South Coastal Gujarat will move further west towards Saurashtra and after 24 to 36 hours rain intensity will reduce over the entire West Coast. However light to moderate rains will continue thereafter also.
