The state of Uttar Pradesh has seen some good rainfall activity after a long time with widespread rains. Right from cities of Varanasi, Gazipur, Gorakhpur to Lucknow, Meerut and even the cities along the foothills of Bahraich etc. saw moderate to heavy rains.
For instance Lucknow saw 64 mm of rains, Orai 67 mm, Varanasi 61 mm during the last 24 hours. These rains have resulted in some relief from the ongoing sultry conditions.
The state of Uttar Pradesh was the most deficit pocket with eastern pocket at 72 percent deficiency and Western region at 52 percent. With these rains, the deficiency was covered to some extent.
Some more rains may be seen for the next couple of days in view of the Monsoon Trough of its near normal position and the presence of Cyclonic Circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining areas. Scattered rains may be seen day after tomorrow as well. Rains will reduce thereafter, as the Monsoon Trough will shift southward again.
