Remnants of the Cyclone Vardah have remerged in Arabian Sea and is presently seen as a low pressure area close to Lakshadweep Islands.
According to Skymet Weather, the system will now give good rains over Lakshadweep Islands. Meanwhile, scattered rains are likely to continue over Coastal and South Karnataka including Bangalore, parts of Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh.
Weathermen predict system is likely to get more marked as it is brewing in favorable weather conditions. Most likely, this low pressure area will be travelling in west-northwest direction in the coming days.
However, as the system will be moving away from the Indian coast, rains will reduce gradually over the southern states.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet Weather, the system will now head towards Oman coast. The system will start affecting the weather over the Oman coast by December 19 or 20.
Several areas will witness good rains and thundershowers under its influence. Usually, Oman does not witness during this time of the year.
Vardah, which had made the landfall close to Chennai as a severe cyclonic storm, had given heavy to very heavy rainfall over several parts of Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka. Few places have also recorded extremely heavy showers.
Both Chennai and Bangalore surpassed their monthly average rainfall in the span of 24 hours only.
