The remnants of Cyclone Vardah had reemerged in Arabian Sea as a low pressure area. Since then, it has been travelling in favourable conditions of warm sea surface temperatures that has helped the system to get more marked.
It is presently centered at 11°N and 62.5°E, about 1110 km west of Amini Devi, 950 km eastsoutheast of Socotra, Yemen and 1250 km eastsoutheast of Bereeda, Somalia. Further, the weather conditions remain fabvourable for the system to gain more strength and concentrate into a deep depression during the next 24 hours.
The system will continue to move in west direction and is most likely to head towards Oman or Somalia coast. However, depression has moved far away from the Indian coast.
With this, rains will now also reduce significantly over the Indian region. But, isolated showers cannot be ruled out over Lakshadweep Islands and Kerala.
Vardah had originated in Southwest Bay of Bengal and had made landfall over the Indian coast, close to Chennai as severe cyclonic storm. It had given heavy to extremely heavy rains over Chennai and Bangalore.
