During the last 24 hours as well, heavy rains were witnessed by multiple cities in the state such asVaranasi, Prayagraj, Chandoli, Jaunpur, Gazipur and Azamgarh. Moreover, Varanasi received very heavy rains to the tune of 148 mm. These rains have worsened the flood situation in the area and threw the day to day life out of track.
The central and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving very heavy rains since last few days. However, during the last 24 hours, the rain belt has shifted over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Thus, now eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh adjacent to Bihar might receive a few good spells today.
On the other hand, tomorrow onward rains will reduce significantly from other parts of the state. However, isolated light rains with one or two heavy spells may continue.
But any heavy spells of rain and thundershower activity will not make a comeback anytime soon over Uttar Pradesh.
As of date,a total of 73 people have been killed in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradeshas heavy rains which have been continuing in different parts of the state since the past two days have disrupted normal life. Moreover, schools and all other educational institutes were shut in Prayagraj and Varanasi yesterday in wake of the heavy rains.
