Varanasi, Agra report very dense fog, visibility drops to nil

Foggy mornings continue to be a part of several parts of North India’s daily routine. So much so, that several areas have been observing dense fog for quite some time now. Plains of North India, particularly many areas of the state of Uttar Pradesh have been in the grip of dense fog during the past few days.

Similar conditions were observed today morning as well. Both Varanasi and Agra recorded very dense fog with the visibility dropping to nil. Situation was no better in Lucknow where dense fog continued to prevail with the capital city of Uttar Pradesh reporting 50 metres visibility. Gorakhpur was slightly better with shallow fog and the visibility being recorded at 500 metres.

As far as East India is concerned, the capital city of Bihar, Patna also reported dense fog. In fact, the visibility here was being reported at a mere 50 metres. Delhi recorded moderate fog at the Palam Airport, here the visibility was 300 metres.

Agartala in Northeast India also witnessed very dense fog with the visibility being reported at 50 metres. Raipur in Central India reported shallow fog at 800 metres. In an unusual turn of events, Bangalore also reported shallow fog at 800 metres.

In the wake of this, at least 110 trains have been delayed across the country. Delhi has reported at least 19 flight delays and two cancellations.
