Valsad, Surat, Ahmedabad likely to receive good Monsoon rains

Monsoon has reached most parts of Gujarat during the last two to three days. Many parts of Gujarat have been receiving good rains. In fact, Valsad in South Gujarat had received exceptionally heavy rains on June 24 of 196 mm.

The intensity of rain is more over Gujarat region but Saurashtra and Kutch have also started receiving scattered light to moderate rains since the last 48 hours. Rain statistics as on June 25; Gujarat region is near normal with just 6% deficiency in rains whereas Saurashtra and Kutch are still deficit by 52% rains.

As per Skymet weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over South Pakistan and adjoining Kutch, while another cyclonic circulation is over South Gujarat. The recent weather activities can be attributed to these two weather systems.

Now, we expect light to moderate rains to continue over many parts of the state for another four to five days. Though the intensity of rains may vary day to day dry spell is not likely for at least one week. Gujarat region may become rain surplus and deficiency of Saurashtra and Kutch may reduce.

Temperatures are likely to reduce marginally though the humid and sultry weather will prevail. Ahmedabad has been receiving on and off rains and is likely to continue whereas these rains will be highly localized and will not occur over many places.
