Heavy to very heavy rainfall is going on over many parts of Uttarakhand leading to landslides at many places. Cloudburst incidents have also been witness in some places, bringing flash floods.

Roads have been washed away, buildings have been damaged and the death toll has risen to 38. As per media reports, casualties are expected to increase as rescue and relief operations continue.

Most of the rivers are also flowing above the danger level. Houses have been damaged severely. All in all, the situation is very grim. There are indications that after 24 hours, rain will intensity will decrease. But, it will take some more days for waters to recede.

Even after the decrease in rainfall, we cannot rule out the danger of landslides and mudslides over the region.

Both National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been carrying out relief work in full swing.

As caution needs to be excised, the government has ordered closure of schools till situation improves. As of now, the Char Dham Yarta has been halted.
