Uttarakhand, Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh to get good rains

Since last few days, scattered light rains had been observed over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The intensity of these ongoing rainfall and thundershower activities are likely to continue over these regions for the next 24 to 48 hours. The weather conditions over the northern hills of India will remain pleasant.

In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Pantnagar recorded 103.2 mm of rainfall, Mukteshwar 60 mm, Pithoragarh 34.1 mm, Dharamsala and Una 20.6 mm, Tehri 5.8 mm, Joshimath 5 mm, Uttarkashi 2 mm, Bilaspur 1 mm, Kalpa and Batote 0.2 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is seen persisting over North Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, eastern districts of Uttarakhand and adjoining areas may record light to moderate showers during the next 24 hours. While these rains will increase over these regions by July 9 and 10 up till July 12. Thereafter, the entire hilly states of Western Himalayas may see reduced rainfall activities.

However, during the active Monsoon conditions over Hills of North India, moderate to heavy showers are possible to occur over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and southern districts of Jammu and Kashmir. If these heavy rains continue to prevail, chances of flash floods and landslides cannot be ruled out over these regions.

So, tourists are advised not to visit the northern hills of India untill July 12 as of heavy rains are likely. After then, the intensity of rain may reduce over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand.
