Dry weather conditions have been prevailing across the states of Uttarakhand as well as Himachal Pradesh. In fact, the entire hilly region of North India was witnessing dry and pleasant weather conditions. However, rain gods did want to cause some rains and change in weather conditions across some regions of the hills of North India.
The last 24 hours also saw some rainfall activity over the Uttarakhand region. However, Himachal Pradesh did remain dry except about a trace of rain and two. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Dehradun recorded 15 mm of rain while Tehri witnessed 3 mm of rainfall. Meanwhile, trace of rain was seen in Shimla.
Now, rainfall intensity will increase even further over the states of Uttarakhand as well as Himachal Pradesh. These conditions will occur due to the presence of a well-marked low-pressure area over North Madhya Pradesh which is expected to move in a northerly direction towards Southwest Uttar Pradesh. Not only this, a Western Disturbance is also persisting over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir.

During the next 24 hours, the entire state of Uttarakhand is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rains which may result in inclement weather conditions including flash floods, cloudbursts as well as landslides. Eastern parts of Himachal Pradesh will also witness significant increase in rainfall activity and inclement weather conditions are also possible in these areas.

Cities including Champawat, Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital, Garhwal, Dehradun, Haridwar, Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, and Nahan will witness very heavy showers
These rainfall activities are expected to continue throughout the weekend which is why taking a weekend trip to the hills of North India is completely unsafe right now. However, the Kangra Devi, Jwala Ji, Chintapoorni and Chamunda which are pilgrim spots visited during Navratri lie in the western parts of Himachal Pradesh where rain activity will be very less. Thus, one can pay a visit to these areas after taking the weather conditions into consideration.
