People in Uttar Pradesh have been witnessing record breaking temperatures, as severe heat wave continues to sweep most parts of the state.
On Sunday, Varanasi recorded maximum temperature of 46.6°C, surpassing the all-time high maximum temperature of 46.5°C, recorded on May 1, 2009.
Lucknow also recorded day temperature of 44.7°C yesterday and with this, the city has scored all-time high temperature for the third time. Previously, it was on May 13, 2010 and May 30, 2012.
Maximum temperatures have been settling five to seven degrees above normal, forcing people to stay indoors. State authorities have issued warnings and have advised people to take precautions before venturing out and stay hydrated to avoid heat stroke.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, no relief is expected in coming days as no weather system is approaching the region.
Hot and dry northwesterly winds are blowing from Central Pakistan through plains of Northwest India, where temperatures are hovering around 48°C. As per Skymet, more the winds travel on land, drier and hotter they become.
