Uttar Pradesh Rains: Heavy showers lash Fursatganj, Lucknow, Varanasi, more rains today

The state of Uttar Pradesh has been receiving heavy rains. Moreover, the central and  eastern parts of the state including Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and other adjoining areas have been the ones receiving rainfall.

In fact, in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Fursatganj recorded 186 mm of rains, Lucknow 107 mm, Gorakhpur 97 mm, Varanasi 97 mm, Hamirpur 80 mm, and Kanpur 34 mm.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains in central as well as eastern parts of the state are expected to continue for the next 24 hours remaining on the heavier side today. Thereafter, these rains are expected to shift over West Uttar Pradesh.

The low pressure was over north of Madhya Pradesh and is now over Central Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh, slightly south of Lucknow. The system will move west northwestward and result in rainfall over Western parts of the state including Bareilly, Agra, Meerut etc.

In the beginning eastern part of Uttar Pradesh was 100 percent excess in June, while the western part was largely deficient.  Gradually, the deficit of West Uttar Pradesh and came closer. At present, West Uttar Pradesh is deficient at -26 percent, and East Uttar Pradesh at -9 percent.

These rains will help West Uttar Pradesh to come in the normal bracket and East Uttar Pradesh may also see some reduction.
