Uttar Pradesh gears up for good Monsoon rains

Monsoon rains are all set to make a comeback over Uttar Pradesh, particularly over western and central parts that have been dry for last many days.

According to Skymet Weather, the western end of the axis of Monsoon trough which has been running through the foothills of Himalayas, has now shifted southwards. At present, it is passing through Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.

In wake of oscillation  of the trough, some parts of the state has already started recording good Monsoon rains. For instance, Bareilly has recorded 30 mm of rain in span of nine hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 am on Monday.

Now, we expect Monsoon rains of varied intensity to lash several parts of Uttar Pradesh for at least next 24 to 48 hours.

Meanwhile, East Uttar Pradesh has already been recording on and off rains during the last few days on account of the eastern end of the Monsoon trough.

These Monsoon rains hold great relevance for the state, as both the East and West regions are rain deficient. As on September 12, East Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 15%, while West Uttar Pradesh is deficit by 11%.

Now with these rains in offing, we expect both the region to cover up the rain deficiency and head towards normal rainfall.
