Moderate to heavy rains have occurred over Northwest and Central Uttar Pradesh. East Uttar Pradesh recorded light rains while Southwest Uttar Pradesh remained dry.
In fact, Ganga and its tributaries are flowing above or near danger mark in many parts. Sharda, and Ghagra are also breaching their banks in Lakhimpur, Barabanki and Balia. Yamuna and Rapti are near danger mark at Prayagraj and Balrampur. Ganga and Ramganga rivers have also seen an increase in the water levels.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Lucknow recorded a whopping 69 mm of rainfall, Moradabad 34 mm, Kanpur 17 mm, and Najibabad 18 mm.
The axis of Monsoon trough has shifted southwards and now is extending from Northwest Rajasthan across South Uttar Pradesh up to Bay of Bengal.
Now, moderate to heavy rains will continue over many parts of Uttar Pradesh. However, rain intensity will be on the higher side for central and western parts of Uttar Pradesh.
After 24 hours, rains over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh will reduce but on and off rains will continue over West Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, flood situation over parts of the state will remain grim.
