During the last 24 hours, both the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have received light to moderate spells of rains and thundershowers at many places. Many parts in Uttar Pradesh have also recorded heavy showers at isolated places. While Lucknow recorded 25 mm of rains, Fursatganj 13 mm, Gorakhpur 67 mm, Gaya 24 mm, Bareilly 43 mm, Aligarh 56 mm and Agra received 13 mm of rains.
At present, a Trough is extending from Punjab to Gujarat. Easterly moist winds are affecting Bihar as well as entire Uttar Pradesh. Since, these weather systems, are likely to keep affecting the region during next two to three days, thus light to moderate rains and thundershowers are likely over many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Also, some heavy showers cannot be ruled out during the next 18 to 24 hours.
The day temperatures would remain around 29 to 31 degree Celsius while night temperatures will be varying between 23 to 25 degrees.
These rains are likely to turn beneficial for ongoing crops in both the states.
Both the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are running rain deficient at present. The seasonal rainfall over West Uttar Pradesh is deficient by 30%, East Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 17%. Also, the state of Bihar has received 18% less rainfall than the normal, as on September 21. Now, this rain deficiency is likely to improve a bit as rains lie ahead.
