Upcoming rains in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh promise relief from Heatwave

April 2, 2019 8:59 AM | Skymet Weather Team

Intermittent light rainfall activity is being forecast for parts of Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh, during the next two to three days. The reason for these rains can be the trough which is seen extending from eastern parts of Jharkhand and adjoining North Odisha up to South-coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Rain during this period is going to be light to very light and patchy in nature. We do not expect a very significant change in the temperature profile over the area, but mild relief is definitely in the offing. The humidity, however, will remain high due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal and the persisting cloud cover.

During this time of the year, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha experience Heatwave Conditions. This upcoming rain will however keep the temperatures on the lower side. Marginal relief from Heatwave conditions will be observed for at least a week.

Rains are expected to pick up pace around April 5 over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha as well as parts of Telangana. The intensity will be more over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Coastal Odisha during this time. Telangana will only receive isolated rain whereas the weather in Tamil Nadu will remain almost dry.

The rainfall activity will remain confined to central and northern parts of the East Coast. The southern parts of the region i.e. Tamil Nadu will remain almost dry.
