Presently, a cyclonic circulation has presently formed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh and West Bengal region. Thus, in association with this system, a low pressure is likely to form around August 25.
Also, the extent of Monsoon trough into the Bay of Bengal is aiding to the formation of this low pressure area. By August 25, the system will become a low pressure area. The cyclonic circulation is partly over land and see due to which a significant strengthening of this system is not likely.
At the most, the system has the potential of becoming a feeble low pressure area. Thereafter, the system will move inland as a weaker system.
Due to the effect of this system, rainfall activity is expected to occur over parts of West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh. Not only this, even North Chhattisgarh may see some rainfall activities.
These pockets of East India have been rain deficient as the last two Monsoon systems of Bay have not given enough rains and only central parts have seen some rainfall activity. This system will provide that much needed rains over these areas which may reduce the deficiency to some extent.
