The rain deficiency of Coastal Andhra Pradesh has decreased due to good rains in the last couple of days and now the deficiency stands at six percent.
Whereas, Rayalaseema is rain excess by 21%. In the last 24 hours, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh has received moderate showers and Rayalaseema also witnessed light to moderate rains. For instance, Ongole in Andhra Pradesh recorded 26.7 mm, Machilipatnam 9.7 mm and Tirupati 2 mm.
Now, we expect moderate to heavy rains to lash Coastal Andhra Pradesh, especially the southern districts.
Places like Tirupati, Nellore, Guntur, and Krishna may receive heavy showers during the next 24 hours. At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over the Comorin area and a trough from this system is extending up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh. It is very likely that this Circulation may intensify into a Low-Pressure Area during the next 48 hours over Southwest and adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra coast. Therefore, many parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive moderate to heavy rains on October 23 as well. Rayalaseema may also receive light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells until October 23.
Thereafter, the rain intensity may fall over Andhra Pradesh and rains will be of light intensity. East Godavari, West Godavari, and Krishna may receive heavy showers around October 23 which may lead to waterlogging and flash floods.
