The Western Disturbance over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region persists. The easterly winds flowing from the Bay of Bengal are reaching up to the hilly regions of the western Himalayas.
Due to the hilly terrain convective clouds are developing over the region, bringing one or two spells of heavy showers. Gradually, the weather system will move away. Nevertheless, the westerly flow of winds scattered over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Normally, by this time of the year rainfall reduces over the western Himalayas. Rainy spells over the northern hills begin once again by the end of October with the occurrence of significant Western Disturbances.
This season Monsoon has not yet withdrawn from the hilly states and continues to bring the easterly flow. On and off rains will now continue with heavy rainfall in patches. However, fairly widespread rain is not likely in absence of any significant weather system.
Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh received 37.6 mm of rainfall during last 24 hours. Such good showers are unusual for this time of the year. In Uttarakhand, Dehradun recorded 13.8 mm of rainfall and Haridwar 0.2 mm.
