The city of Mumbai has observed a drop in both its day and night temperatures in the last couple of days. Since the last two days, day temperatures have been on a drop. On January 2, the maximum settled at 28.9 degrees, on January 3, it dropped to 27.8 degrees.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature further dropped to 26.5 degrees and today the minimum temperature settled at 17.5 degrees Celsius. Thus, cool and comfortable weather has been persisting over the city of Mumbai.
The reason for such weather can be attributed to the flow of northerly winds from the Western Himalayas, across Rajasthan and Gujarat. These winds have been instrumental in dropping the temperatures.
Now, from tomorrow, the winds will change its direction from northerly to south southeasterly, which will result in increase in day and night temperatures. Thus, the temperatures of the city of Mumbai will start rising once again.
However, another drop in the temperatures over Mumbai and its suburbs is anticipated around January 8 or 9, due to commencement of northerly winds again, when the Western Disturbance will have moved away.
There may be isolated light rains on January 7 or 8 over Mumbai and its suburbs as a Trough will be seen from East Uttar Pradesh to Northeast Arabian Sea across North Konkan and Goa. This will also cause some rains in parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
