The financial capital Mumbai is likely to come in for an unseasonal and bit longer spell of sporadic showers. These hit and miss spells of drizzle and sprinkle are expected between 16th and 19thNovember and could possibly spill over to the next day also.

Most of the weather activity is expected during evening and night hours with sheet of medium clouds at other times. Showers are not likely to be intense to cause disruption or inconvenience to ‘ Mumbaikars’.

Currently, there is a cyclonic circulation over East Central and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea, off North Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. This feature is likely to become more marked and move north and deep in the sea over the next 3-4 days. A low pressure area is expected to form over the region during next 24hr and may become well marked in the subsequent 24hr.  Also, a trough is likely to extend along Coastal Karnataka and Konkan, more prominent between Goa and Mumbai.

After the withdrawal of southwest monsoon, Mumbai rarely witnesses rainy days and mostly remains warm and humid till end of November. Yesterday also, the mercury shot up to 36.6°C, about 4°C above the normal, with humidity levels in excess of 60%.  Even the minimum temperature was registered  about 3°C  more than the average. During the week, mercury is likely to plunge to 32-33°C and the minimum also roll down by a degree or two. The weather system in the Arabian Sea is a slow moving one and will keep influencing the local conditions till about 21stNovember.  On 17th and 18thNovember, the frequency and pace of showers could be sharper,  than on other days. Mumbai and suburbs may gather rainfall in the range of 10-20mm over the period of 4-5days....
