The country has witnessed frequent spells of unseasonal rains. This year, almost all the Meteorological divisions of east and north east India are large rain excess except Arunachal Pradesh which is also surplus by 16%. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain occurred over East Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
These activities were not as intense as on February 3rd and 4th. Day temperatures dropped and minimums increased over eastern parts of the country due to cloud cover and rainfall activities.
The cyclonic circulation which was persisting over eastern part of Uttar Pradesh has moved away and the weather is now clearing up. Minimum temperatures are expected to drop over East India due to the commencement of cold north westerly winds.
We do not expect any significant weather activity over East India for at least the next one week. There are chances of scattered rain and thundershower activities by the end of next week that will be around February 19 and 20.
