Unseasonal rains may impact harvesting in many states

October 16, 2021 2:03 PM |

Monsoon has withdrawn from entire Northwest Central and Eastern parts of the country. Despite monsoon withdrawal, rain activities are expected to revive once again over many Central eastern and northern States.

Farmers are busy in harvesting Kharif crops Bihar Jharkhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Harvesting of rice is going on in Punjab and Haryana. Farmers of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are also busy in harvesting of soybean and other variety of crops.

Month of October used to be ideal for the harvesting due to dry weather conditions. Formation of a low-pressure area over coastal parts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and influx of moisture from the Bay of Bengal in the form of easterly winds will lead to widespread rain over east, central and northern plains of the country.

These are unseasonal rains will certainly disrupt the harvesting and may damage the standing crops as well as the harvested crops which are in lying on the field.

Rain is expected over many parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Vidarbha on October 16. By October 17, we expect rain activities to cover almost entire Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Eastern parts of Rajasthan.
