Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are all set to receive unseasonal rains once again. At present, a Western Disturbance has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over Punjab and Haryana which will move further in easterly direction. A Trough will extend from Central parts of Uttar Pradesh to Vidarbha across Madhya Pradesh.
Therefore, light scattered rains will commence over Madhya Pradesh by today evening or night. Gradually, it will increase in intensity over many parts. East and South Madhya Pradesh will get moderate showers with isolated hailstorm activities. Places like Sidhi, Satna, Umaria, Damoh, Sagar, Jabalpur, Mandla and Hoshangabad will get good rains during this period. However, the Western parts of Madhya Pradesh will remain almost dry. Places like Ujjain, Ratlam, Dhar, Neemuch etc are not expected to get any rains. However, weather will remain cloudy to overcast over these areas. Isolated thundery activities cannot be ruled out.
January 8 onward, Chhattisgarh will also get good rains. One or two heavy showers are also expected over the region. Light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells are likely over Chhattisgarh until January 9.
However, by January 9, weather activities over Madhya Pradesh will subside and the weather system will move towards Chhattisgarh.
Particularly, the day temperatures are likely to subside significantly during this time. Morning temperatures may rise by two to three degree centigrade.
