After a prolonged dry spell, rains are all set to return to the state of Maharashtra. The weather models are indicating presence of two such weather systems that would be instrumental in giving scattered rain and thundershowers. This would also be thesecond round of unseasonal rainfallactivity in the state.
According to Skymet Weather, a Trough is extending from Lakshadweep Area up to North Coastal Maharashtra. A Confluence Zone is also expected to develop over North Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha.
The combination of two would bring rains mainly forMumbai,Pune, Dahanu, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Malegaon, Jalgaon, Akola, Nagpur and Amravati between December 24 and 26. In fact, rains would commence in Vidarbha and South Maharashtra today evening onward and these divisions might witness isolated showers.
Likewise, many other cities including Latur, Hingoli, Jalna and Beed will witness isolated rains within the span of three days, while scattered showers are likely over Ahmednagar, Aurangabad and Mahabaleshwar. There are also chances of isolated hailstorm activities.
Minimums are likely to settle above normal for the next three to four days in the wake of these weather activities. However, once the rains clear up, say from December 27, the flow of northerly/northeasterly winds would resume leading to a drop in the night temperatures yet again.
