Cyclone Dana crossed past Odisha coast, last week. Heavy rainfall lashed parts of Odisha and West Bengal. The storm did not travel very far and weakened to a low-pressure area, somewhere over the tri-junction of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The distant offshoots of the system, as cyclonic circulation, still hang around over the area. Light to moderate showers continue over Odisha, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh and extend to cover adjoining Bihar and Jharkhand.
The cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha is extending up to medium levels. This feature is aided by the anticyclone over the eastern parts of the Bay of Bengal. The combined influence is causing scattered rain and thundershowers, seemingly unseasonal in nature. The pattern is likely to persist for another 2-3 days and therefore, the weather activity, albeit mostly light in nature, will continue.
The intensity and spread of weather activity will be more over Odisha and Chhattisgarh between the 28th and 30th of October. Light weather activity with a cloudy sky, accompanied by rain and drizzle will reach parts of Bihar, and Jharkhand on the eastern side and touch upon the eastern parts of Vidarbha and East Madhya Pradesh, as well. Later, the activity will shrink over the eastern states and get extended to the central parts, between 31st October and 02nd Nov. Some pockets of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana and Chhattisgarh will continue to have this unseasonal wet spell.
The minimum temperature remains in mid 20’s over the eastern and central parts. The state of Odisha is the warmest with a minimum in the range of 26°-27°C. Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand are a shade better with the lowest temperature around 23°-24°C. Weather conditions will largely improve in the entire region from 04th November onwards.
