November is the month when Maharashtra observes very little rainfall, particularly the Vidarbha and Marathwada region. Coastal Maharashtra and Madhya Maharashtra observe occasional rain during this period due to some system in the Arabian Sea moving along the coast.
Last three days Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra have been witnessing some very good rains. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Pune in the last three days has recorded a whopping 109.4 mm of rain.
Some places have recorded good rain in a span of 24 hours as well. For instance, Ahmadnagar in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday recorded 22 mm of rain. Ambajogai and Latur witnessed 23 mm and 19 mm of rain, respectively. Pune observed 14 mm of rain, while Satara recorded 11 mm of rain during the same period of 24 hours. Marathwada and Vidarbha have been dry as expected.
These rains are because of the low pressure area in the Arabian Sea, which had a trough extending from Maharashtra upto Gujarat. This weather system will become insignificant in next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, another spell of rain is approaching Marathwada by November 30 from the Bay of Bengal side. The main areas that will be affected by this weather system are coastal Maharashtra and Madhya Maharashtra.
