Unseasonal rain in Maharashtra to continue until January 3

As reiterated by weatherman at Skymet Weather, parts of Maharashtra have witnessed rainfall activities in the last 24 hours. In fact, it has been the Vidarbha and Marathwada region to have recorded these rains.

A Confluence zone is persistent over Marathwada, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Due to this weather feature, rainfall activity will continue over Marathwada and many parts of Vidarbha until January 2nd.

Intensity of these rainfall activities is expected to increase gradually and by January 2 moderate to heavy showers will be seen in a few parts of Vidarbha and isolated pockets of Marathwada. Possibility of hailstorm also cannot be ruled out in some areas. Isolated pockets of Madhya Maharashtra may also see some rains however Konkan including Mumbai, Thane, Dahanu will remain dry.

Weather is expected to start clearing up by January 3. However even then isolated pockets of East Vidarbha may see a few showers. By January 4, the weather is expected to clear up to quite an extent.

minimum temperatures are expected to increase by two to three degrees over many parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada due to commencement of South easterly winds.

Another spell of rains is expected to make an appearance over Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada around January 7 which may continue until January 9. During that time also, a confluence zone will develop over Vidarbha and Marathwada during that time.
