Unseasonal Heavy Mumbai Rains break December record, heavy showers ahead

Unseasonal rains lashed the city of Mumbai resulting in hefty showers over many parts of the city. Mumbai, that generally does not see rainfall in December witnessed a whopping 91 mm of rains in a span of 24 hours with Colaba also recording 90 mm of rainfall.

These Mumbai rains have attributed to the system in the Arabian Sea and the trough running along the Maharashtra Coast. These heavy rains of 91 mm rains have beaten the all-time monthly record for December, which stood at 75.8 mm recorded in the year 2017. These rains have also surpassed the 24 hour rain record for December, that stands at 53.8 mm recorded in the same year itself.

Talking about the forecast, rains will reduce significantly, however, a couple of spells may be seen today. Between December 3 and 5, a few stray showers cannot be ruled out. The weather will clear up completely by December 6.

These rains have dropped the maximum temperatures significantly, which settled around 26 degree Celsius, which happens to be 8 degrees below the normal levels.
