Southwest Monsoon has already withdrawn from Delhi, slightly later than usual. Generally, after the Monsoon has withdrawn during the month of October, it does not rain. Rains are only in association with the Monsoon still persisting in October, otherwise, rains remain far from Delhi during this time.

However, a situation is building up wherein some rains may be seen in Delhi and its adjoining areas. These rains will be seen between October 16 and 18. More showers will be seen on October 17.

Already there have been some weather changes in Delhi, where temperatures have dropped. This has occurred due to the snowfall occurrence in the higher reaches of Kashmir region. Temperatures have been dropping consistently over Delhi for the last three days, with minimum temperatures settling at 19 degrees today.

Post this upcoming rainy spell, there may be some change in the weather condition with some wintry touch making an appearance, particularly during the evening hours. These rains will be attributed to the low pressure area which is over the coast now, will move slightly ahead resulting in easterlies blowing over Delhi and the NCR region.

Normally, when Monsoon withdraws, northwesterly winds tend to take over. However, this low pressure will result in the easterlies gaining strength and with the Western Disturbance over the hills, Delhi may see some rains. These showers are not a usual occurrence and can be categorized as unseasonal rains over Delhi.
